Janak and Ashtavakra

Image
Introduction to Topic We all know about the Bhagavad Gita, but there is more than one Gita. The Gita is a conversation with questions and answers, like the Upanishads, but it's in song form rather than normal conversation. The Ashtavakra Gita is also one of those that came in Ramayana time, way before the famous Bhagavad Gita of Mahabharata time. This conversation was between Raja Janak (the father of Sita) and Ashtavakra (a wise boy with eight abnormal curves in his body). The seeking of truth and permanence after realizing that the nature of life is temporary in every sense starts the journey of every student of spirituality. The question "Who am I?" is considered the biggest and most important one in a seeker's life. Raja Janak also had this realization, and thus began his journey. Story Summary  Janak's dreams were not letting him focus on his regular work, making him wonder if they were just normal thoughts or a warning sign of upcoming big troubl...

Caged Trigger

Image
Caged Tiger The title of the book, "Caged Tiger," suggests the author's desire for ultimate freedom. The country is facing a situation where power is becoming concentrated in the hands of a few, with no counterbalance available to check their decisions.  The system does not guarantee that power will be used only for its specified purpose, and this problem has persisted since 1947. Whether it's the economy, free speech, culture or anything else, there is always a tussle between organizations wanting control and people wanting freedom. There is no balance available in this system. The author discusses numerous examples of the different troubles we are going through and potential threats that we can face in the future with this weak system in our country right now. There is a need to educate and inspire people to get into discussions around this issue and possible solutions along with the roles and responsibilities citizens should have...

Twisted Temptations

Image
As the title suggests, these are the stories of women with money and power doing whatever they have to without any fear for their desire for intense love and attention. Forbidden emptiness, story of Priya was the one which made me think about how we used to get ticket by our emotions and mind easily. Relationships are really delicate and tricky to handle especially when one is under the control of mind and emotions. But we need to realise what we want in life clearly so that we don't make wrong choices in life and then cry regretting them. After reading these kind of stories one can reflect in his/her own selves to know their mistakes. These characters you may or may not see around society, but to seek out their life stories is another adventure at Togather. As once said by Chanakya, you should never underestimate the bravery of women. They can go beyond your thoughts in achieving what they desire. These stories are practical examples of the same. The way the author dep...

Till the kingdom

Image
Indian history is full of amazing stories with undiscovered secrets. Our Kingdom and their Kings, Queens, Warriors, and their War & Courtroom drama are unmatchable. The thrills, twists, threats of lives and livelihood of all the people in a single story. Gangadas and Kalyani are amazing couple. I enjoyed their conversations a lot in the book. Avinash and Shubham ware also completing them in story. The fast pace, small size and lucid narration of story can allow anyone to complete the book within a day. The cover if you observe will tell you a lot about the story. The puzzle/riddle in the story is really fun to solve. It's really difficult to tell much about the story without any spoilers so, I am not talking about it much. But you must know that you shouldn't miss this book is you are also historical fictional thriller lover like me. This will be definately in your favourite reads list. As I can't talk about the story much let me tell you guys about the narr...

Dhantasur

Image
Even after reading listening and reading lot of Puranik stories I have never heard about Dhantasur. So, I didn't know the story at all. But as soon as I picked it up I was totally blown away by it. No unnecessary talk and still not fast paced. The narration is perfectly balanced giving proper justice to the story. Author has done proper research on the whole mythology aspects which you can see in details explained and the smoothness with which he delivers the knowledge, shows his efforts and ability as writer. We always think in binary. Consider the Asura bad as few of them did something what we don't like. The Dharma doesn't differentiate like that. Everything is equal in its eyes. So what if someone doesn't follow Dhama who we assume as good? Is there any way for them to escape from it? That's where the real story starts. The compact yet good enough size of book and chapters, proper fonts, high quality paper, beautiful cover and cute bookma...

Silence has Secrets

Image
Silence has Secrets by Nayan Malek is a gripping and intriguing novel that explores the sensitive issue of sexual violence and its aftermath. The story takes place in the context of an IIT campus and revolves around the question of whether someone would marry a rape survivor. The author effectively uses this premise to delve into the complexities of gender relations, power dynamics, and social prejudices. The plot is well-crafted and keeps the readers engaged throughout. The characters are realistically portrayed, and their motives and actions are believable. The author sensitively handles the themes of sexual violence and its impact on the survivors, as well as the social stigma and victim-blaming that they face. The novel also highlights the importance of speaking up against such crimes and the need for society to support the survivors. Overall, Silence has Secrets is a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the issues surrounding sexual violence and...

Sam's 12 Commandments

Image
Looking at the cute cover no one can imagine what a deadly combination this book possesses - of business, entrepreneurship and innovation from the Indian perspective.  The introduction in itself was encouraging enough for me except when I read about the Aryan invasion theory which is already proven as a false narrative. However it added to my curiosity! The book revolves around the guidance for first time entrepreneurs and also gives useful tips and informtive steps which every entrepreneur should follow. They are very practical and action oriented. The solutions are in Indian context only which makes this book all the more exciting for Indian readers! The first hand experience in entrepreneurship by the author and his understanding of entrepreneurship and overall business in both USA and India gave him the ability to stimulate different scenarios and provide advice accordingly.  Like for example the Indian midset about bringing the family members in business, rais...

Just Aspire

Image
Ajai Chowdhry is the Co-Founder of HCL (Hindustan Computers Ltd), MAIT (Manufacturers Association of Information Technology) and ICA (Indian Cellular Association) He also helped in creating the Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (EDSM) industry in India and the National Policy on Electronics, 2019. The list is long, and I could go on, but I would rather recommend you to read the book instead of this list. The story is much more fascinating and enchanting.   As one of the founders of HCL, established in India and then further developed in Singapore and the world, he became a pioneer in the hardware industry in our country, bringing the PC revolution, and then the collaborations with Nokia led the movement of broad phone adaptation, bringing the mobile phone revolution.   But as you read in the list above, this is not a story of business or entrepreneurship alone. This is the story of a man with versatile talent and interests. Through his journey, one can see...

Borderless

Image
When you observe life, you see the fractional part of it. There are ambitions, desires, pains, fears, and whatnot. They're borderless.    All humans are feeling similar kinds of situations and emotions even if they are living in different time zones and continents.   The way the story was narrated was just irritating and made me angry in the first few chapters, until I realized how much I was attached to the characters' lives and their pain and frustration in the story. That's when I also realized how amazing the writing was.   Instead of going in a straight line, the story drives through different characters' life experiences and jumps in space and time, which make it an interesting read. Even though the fonts were smaller than usual, making it sometimes irritating, overall it's great.   The stories, while looking normal and simple from the outside, carried way more deep emotions inside. So, anyone who is interested in a simple yet deep story of eve...

Coffee with Coffin

Image
I took good amount of time completion this book because I was trying to absorb each page and thoughts in it. As Human we have unique ability to stimulate different scenarios in our mind which may never happen. But this ability gives as the power to think beyond what we have seen or experienced. Death ☠️💀 as subject is not talked about mostly in our family. That's why we never learnt to accept it as end destination for life as journey. Ultimate truth is that only. Even Gautam Buddha's Father also tried to hide this reality from his son. But ultimately we all will have to face it. That "Smashan Vairagya" - Realisation at cremation ground about the truth of Life and Death will eventually happen to all.  It's just that who holds the thought and dare to think again deeply about it without any rubbish shock and fear will eventually learn from it and live better than one don't realise that. This book contains lot of other stuff related to the main subjec...

The Empress of Indraprastha

Image
Mahabharat is my favourite story which I have seen n number of times (B R Chopra's Mahabharat TV serial)and even read twice. To read the retelling was kind of new experience for me as I mostly prefer the original one but I must say this one was a refreshing retelling with gripping narration, interesting conversations and new perception. I have never read the story from Draupadi's perspective which interested me the most. The detailed description about the surrounding enhanced the reading experience. That's the power of lady author, I guess, to understand the importance of smaller details which sometimes we (men) ignore. The way author has described thought of Draupadi, her relationship with each Pandavas and especially Krushna is really interesting and fascinating. The similarity of thoughts of Panchalii and Sahadev about partition was one of those never thought aspects which author covered beautifully. This is being first of 5 part series set proper base for up...

Diamonds are forever, so are morals

Image
I heard him first on YouTube when his video came up in feed suddenly.  And as always, I was interested in learning from the experience of others, especially when they're 50+ as they often give advice that others can't, so I listened to him and became a fan of his thoughts and clarity.   This is what I admire most about elders, who speak from a gentle and kind heart along with a stable, sharp, and intelligent mind, making it a perfect blend for anyone who needs to listen to and learn from life experiences.   And as soon as I learned about his book, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Finally, when I got the opportunity to read this, it was worth a lot more than that. It's not about the life & events shared by a businessman with some tips, but about a human who went through all those situations and met all those people, which made him a humble human with a focus on morals, seva, and bhakti even after achieving something most people can't even dream ...

THE MBA MINDSET

Image
I really feel nice when I find insightful Non Fiction Book. Because when I invest my time in that, I expect to learn important lessons that can help me in life. I also dreamed once of being an IIM-A and learning about business like any other kid, but I didn't because I was fortunate to have a mentor who guided me and helped me decide why I shouldn't join in.    Most people don't get guidance. They get sales agents who are not interested in the student's career. They only want to reach their targets and numbers, for which they don't think twice before misguiding students and parents.   We still face a lack of proper career counseling and clarity of thought for choosing the correct path. That's where people like Prashant and Sonal come in as angels. They not only provide correct information but also great Important lessons through their learning experience.   This provides a perfect blend for anyone who needs to know why and for whom one should choose ...

Couple of Things

Image
❤️As soon as I read the prologue I got hooked to the story even though I am not into love stories much. My heart started beating faster in excitement and mind had no second thoughts at that moment. ❤️What a beautiful portrayal of love and lucid narration of the events in life which not only entertained but also taught a lot of lessons important in life. A cute cozy style narration that allows you to just read and read and read without any pause. Even though I was reading it in March, I felt like it's a Velentine month.  ❤️By the way it's not only a love story as it starts from the childhood of both authors and covers of lot more than just falling in love, convincing parents and all. To be honest it's way better than I expected. ❤️Dividing narration in a way that gave both of them equal space in telling their stories was good decision, especially as the two main characters are also authors of the story. It made reading experience easy and fast. ❤️They were in Sa...

The Tattoo Trail

Image
It is very strange how human behaves sometime. We always try to adjust in society and look normal, but in the end we are left incomplete inside. You may be curious about how this is related to the story. I’m not going to share that right now, but I will let you discover it in the journey of reading.   Keshav and Sumitra, the Investigating officers, are trying to figure out who (and more importantly why) killed a bureaucrat of Department of Defence, specialist in case of China. It was a big concern for them as a meeting was announced between India and China after Dokalam incident which made this case very sensitive. With a little amount of time and to many aspects involved the case was hard to crack. How did they solve it, is the story to read. I found some editing errors in the book which can be easily ignored with a gripping storyline. There wasn't any long unnecessary pause, but some required turns which made the reading more interesting. I was frankly expecting...

The growth, opportunities and achievements we are getting are inspirational for all. This Book is about the Superpowers Bharat possess which is and will be the reason for future glory. A Heart Full of Hope

Image
It was very difficult for me to write a spoiler free review but I managed somehow. So, there will less discussion around story but I will still talk story plot. It's really engaging and entertaining. Characters are also interesting. Personally I find it very disturbing when I think about person who went through situation of human trafficking which eventually lead to the prostitution. Coming out of it and getting ahead in life is very difficult especially when you are not supported by anyone. Ahana on the other side got whole new family after getting out of trap of trafficking. What happened next will be revealed to those who get the copy ASAP 🤭. Overall great enjoying experience reading it and if you also find engaging fiction attractive this book is for you. And the beautiful cover, compact size handy for travel read along with bigger font size are some of the plus points or additional advantages to be considered while choosing this.

Reboot

Image
I was expecting journey of degree and job like all others but when I faced unexpected failure, it shook me totally. It was journey where I learnt to come out of such unexpected situations with better life than I may had in normal journey. It's very difficult task and mostly one doesn't achieve success as we see in movies. I am also not having such success yet but atleast to handle those situations and coming out of them is biggest achievement in itself. In life we know that we will do 10th, 12th then Degree and then Job with stable career growth. We know how to get success and continue for growth but how to handle break, turning or total U-turn in this career journey. We always have predefined path of school, college, job/business, merriage etc. But don't even know if other path is there until we face blockage in this journey. And then finding out different path or creating it, when not available, is most difficult task for most of the people. Don't worry so...

Concentration and Detachment

Image
The two most important things/concepts/skills required for all humanity. All students and now with social media everyone is facing the problem of concentration. But it is beyond the normal focus we talk about. Concentration is deeper concept which can change 360° view of life if one can grasp it as the way to live. The deepen the concentration goes the higher layers the life reveals to us. Detachment on the other hand is super power if one can possess, can have freedom from all the mental pain. Also can perform the task better with deeper concentration. As a student of life we can use these concepts as tools to live peaceful and successful life. This book is smallest of all I have and still took longest time compared to its size. As sometimes only few words are enough to explain the deepest & most compex subjects but one must be ready to pay full attention to every word and think about it regularly for long time to get real knowledge. The illustrations are on point. Au...

A Man Called Ove

Image
Just after reading first few chapters of this I understood why it's a very praised and famous book. For the first time I liked the detailed description given of every situation. It was slow music which we listen often in restaurant or elevator. Mostly people ignore it but when we give it attention we realise how soothing it is. I laughed, wept, got angry and surprised with different situations. The simplest journey if narrated on point can hook the reader till the end. This book has proven it.  I like it how story transports back and forth whenever Ove remembers past. The cute neighbour woman, silent arrogent cat just like Ove and the over enthusiastic reporter girl are some of my favourite characters and of course Sonia is the one that can't be ignored. The perception we have (or at least I used to have before) [about the rude or dull and silent people who never smile or talk more than required] will change after reading this. I personally have gone thorough such s...
